Flamingo Spirit Build-First pass (and also the normal Flamingo)

Howdy all!

Here's a .jpeg of the Flamingo Spirit so far build wise.  Anything jarring/missing/doesn't seem to be working?

Have we decided on black lines or coloured ones?  Let me know!

And I'm gonna piggy back on this post and put my Normal Flamingo up to see how these guys mesh together.... with Black outlines and one with coloured outlines, yo!

Sunday 29 January 2012

"Hey MTV, I'm Aguila and welcome to my crib."

Here is the first pass of Aguila's living room. Is it tacky/frilly/mexican enough? I was having trouble making it look tacky and keeping it simple-looking at the same time.

Devin and I discussed and this is where we imagine where El Flamingo and Aguila will be sitting. The idea is to have El Flamingo in trapped in the corner and hold him in with some vertical lines around him like jail bars (wassup layout class!)

Trying to keep the characters close to el flamingo less saturated.. mexican colours, aguila colours and some random ones. thoughts?

Saturday 28 January 2012

So here are some colours for Aguila. So far El Director and I are on the same page for the brown orange and yellow like HB's original concept. (keeping the colours similar to the actual eagle he's based on)  Let me know what you think! (and ignore the el tabador rip off one. :P

Announcer - take OVER 9000

I'd like the lines somewhat thicker, like the other characters, but this is pretty much the final design for the announcer.

This is my first pass at seeing how David's style would fit into flash.
Its built "like" a Model, but with groups instead of Symbols.

Just to see how It work.

El Flamingo / Chumbo Rotations

LABELLING THINGS! - Read this!!!

Ok, We have to start keeping things a bit more organized. after doing the Leica the way we did it got way to complicated...so for now on we have a labelling system. If you're confused on how to rename anything, ask me FIRSt before just guessing, keeping it consistent it is very important.

For each department you should be labelling things like this:
Department_Scene_Shot_Intials_VersionNumber

Model Building Meeting Idea

So an Idea I had to help with model building. is when all the designs are done (This Tuesday) I was thinking I could print them all out and us Builders could all have a meeting in how we will break them all down. so that were all one the same page for it. Plus to help out if there any questions or help wanted.

Hopefully all the builders have downloaded the Candy Bayou model I posted a while ago to study and play with. It will be similar with the Tucker model we just animated with. But our models will be a lot more well built and have a few tricks here and there to make animating Quicker.

I'm not sure when Barney will teach us how to build professional models. But I studied the Candy Bayou one With Sam/Steph/Rafa last year. and with playing around with models of my own. I have a strong idea on how to start them.

Not to mention we all already built models in Toonboom, so there are some similarity.

So lets keep staying ahead. We are all ready kicking some hard ass on this movie. Lets kick that ass into a mush of some disgusting pudding that will than be used to make sound effects for our film with my pro mic in HB's living area!!!!

Some small corrections David told me to do.

Little Boy

Águila rotation 1st pass

Here is my 1st pass on Águila rotation.
my question is: what angles do I have to draw that will actually be used in the animation? (or is this enough?)

1st Pass, Rough Leica

Don't worry, the video is private.
So here's the deal. We encountered quite a few changes that need made, so this is an early preliminary and fairly rough leica reel. Several scenes are going to be re-worked, but mostly in presentation, not so much timing. So, this is roughly the film as far as pacing and timing. If anyone has any further questions, feel free to talk to Charles, Rigg or Chris, and we'll clear things up,.

And remember not "EVERY POSE" is boarded, me and Matt agreed that we should leave some acting to the animator. So that why some of the boards may hold longer.

Rough Character Lineup

Characters are still open to change. This is just a rough size comparison.

Saturday 14 January 2012

El Águila - body and mask

so here are some developments on the mask and costume of El Águila

The mask we were thinking on using is the 3rd one
and as for costume, probably the first one, without any suspenders or shirt things...
and of course, the cape à la Assassin's Creed

El Flamingo - New Body (neck/legs fixed)

Oh, and just a lil design change, characters shall have 4 figners. (like the simpsons)

Script Edited!

Script it edited and streamlined!

Great work on getting the script this far and pretty polished!

Basically Dan and I reworked some of the lines to make them funnier, or fresher. The script as a whole though was really well done. Great job guys!

Take a look and let me know how you feel about the changes.

Study This Model

Familiarize yourself with the idea of symbols in side symbols since its the way the pros do it! AND WE BE PROS!

If people want extra help in how to work with the model, I can help from what I've learned.

You know......if anyone....wants to spend more time....animating in flash!!! WOO!

NEWEST SCRIPT

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ

Barney and his writing friend will be going over this script on Friday and giving us their two cents.
But for the most part we believe its pretty solid!

Due Dates

StoryBoards: Tuesday Jan 16 (So the reel can get started on the Wednesday of that week)

Oasis - Continued work

So here's a late-night Layout sketch.  It's still pretty rough but I'd like to try and get this little sucker cleaned (or at least cleaner) tomorrow afternoon/evening.

I was thinking of possibly having the Mayan-esque stairs/temple really falling apart, almost half buried by sand.  As if this was a real lost city now turned oasis-home to the flamingos.  Just a different take than the typical Mayan jungle that I'm throwing out there.

HEY PAINTERS

check out this style of painting! , maybe consider it for the painted scenes? any thoughts el director?

Poster Design

Hey y'all

So I roughed out a couple of poster ideas, discussed with el director and so far have 2 that I like.
Looking for feed back. I'd like to reference more posters and see if I can parody any famous posters successfully. Here's what I have so far.

So this is clearly the a Goonies parody. They're all hanging from a flamingo. I thought it would be neat to put the wrestling ring in the background so they'd be flying over it, as well as the landscape surrounding it.
This is basically the same design as one of the Indiana Jones posters. Scene in the background was changed for another idea. Charles thought the second one looked a bit empty compared to the first, but maybe a better scene. Something to do with Agila fighting el chumbo.
Thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated on these. Or if anyone has any ideas for other posters they like that might work well with the characters in el flamingo.

And in this corner...The Umbrella!

I might just get Exit Freeway on Monday or Tuesday.
I'm still trying to get the style down. Any tips would be great.

Layout jobs

Hey everybody, I've liked everything that has come in so far to the blog, but we should get more definite Layout jobs by getting everybody to choose which back grounds they want to design and then go into and do the close ups and such on them:

So just simply edit the post and put your name where you want it, there can be multiple concepts and designers on each, but we need at least one on each layout

Meg, Jenn - Mexican Village from a far (More or less an establishing shot Sunrise/Sunset)

Meg, Tara - His house as a child (exteriors/ interiors)

Devin, Jenn -Wrestling Arena (exteriors/ interiors)

Devin, Tara -City streets (there will need to be a few shots here/ Mostly Pan)

Meg-Desert at night (More simple and straight forward)

Everybody-Flamingo Pit (There'll need to be a few shots in here, so if everybody could work together here it would be good)

Monday 2 January 2012
